The Potential of Ethiopian Honey
Ethiopia is the largest honey producer in Africa and ranks among the top 10 in the world.
This is largely due to the country’s rich biodiversity and favorable climate, which support a
variety of flowering plants ideal for honey production. In 2021, Ethiopia produced around
54,000 metric tons of honey, accounting for nearly 24% of Africa's total honey production
(IndexBox).
Despite this impressive output, only 0.77% of Ethiopia's honey is currently exported,
highlighting a huge untapped potential for international markets(IndexBox)(Tridge).
By working closely with Ethiopian beekeepers and focusing on sustainable practices,
